On 10 April 2026, the SwissRITA Symposium took place at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich, organised by SwissRITA and the Immunology Nursing Network.

The symposium was opened by Ms Yvonne Feri, President of ProRaris, and Professor Jean-Blaise Wasserfallen, President of KOSEK. Ms Feri provided participants with valuable insight into the perspectives of those affected and patient organisations in the field of rare diseases. Professor Wasserfallen then examined the structural and health policy framework in the context of rare diseases, focusing in particular on national strategies, organisational challenges and the role of networking.
The subsequent joint session featured presentations on, among other things, a patient’s story, patient pathways, aspects of transition, and patient and public involvement. In the afternoon, the programme was split into two parallel tracks: at SwissRITA, the focus was on research highlights from various member centres, followed by the General Assembly. The Immunology Nursing Network addressed practical topics in immunology and gained insights into the specialised nursing role in rheumatology. In addition, interactive workshops took place at various themed tables, including on the administration of immunoglobulins and to mark the tenth anniversary of the Immunology Nursing Network.
The event concluded with a joint drinks reception, which rounded off the day in a pleasant atmosphere.
The national networking of experts and patient representatives in the field of rare immunological and rheumatological diseases forms a central foundation for care and helps to align services even more closely with the needs of those affected. A total of 85 people attended the symposium, 66 in person and 19 online.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Ms Feri, Professor Wasserfallen, all the speakers, all the participants and the organising committee for their great commitment and their valuable contribution to the success of this symposium.
